Ok, so I promised pics of the kitchen Island my wonderful talented  hubby made me, so here it is……

this is the front that faces the stove. This is where I stand most of the time. We painted the sides the same shade of blue as the kitchen walls, and laquered the wood to keep its natural beauty, as we LURVE wood!  He made two drawers like I had wanted , one hold my baking utensils and baking paraphanallia, the other holds all my measuring cups and spoons, yes I have that many! But I’m not telling which drawer is which! lol. The adorable crates on the bottom are used to hold my veggies – (potatos, onions, ect. )  Isnt’ that cool!!  (theres a sneak peak at my new kitchen table in the back too!)

Here’s the other side:

Mark surprised me with this ingenious idea for the other side. He created a shelf inside the island that holds all my cookie sheets, cupcakes pans, and cooling racks! How sweet is THAT!

Here’s a closer look at the top, its made out of “knotty” pine. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it is sooooo beautiful! And the island is A LOT BIGGER than it looks!  It actually took some getting used to have the mammoth island in the kitchen all of a sudden, but now we can’t live without it! Its such a dream to cook on.

Didn’t my hubby do GOOD! :)

******BREAKING NEWS*******

Mark has announced that he is going to build an entertainment center for our Wide Screen TV in the living room next! We’ve already started drawing up the plans! And heres a hint, its going to be made out of ”Knotty” Pine !!!! YAY! Stay tuned! :)
